Our Story

Many people believe the Cardinal holds a special meaning. John and Lea Stewart are among them. For John and Lea the Cardinal represents two things. First, cardinals are symbols of loved ones from Heaven come to visit and let those they visit know all is well. Sadly the Stewarts have lost several family members they still hold very close to their hearts. The Cardinal represents the love they have for those lost loved ones. Cardinal Cakes and Coffee is not just a business to them, but a way they can pour out the love they have in their hearts and share it with others. In addition, cardinals mate for life and this symbolizes the love and commitment John and Lea have for one another. 

John’s family owned and operated a small business, and it was always John’s dream to own a business of his own.  

Lea worked for a small family owned bakery as a young teen, which is where her love of baking and decorating grew. Her dream was to one day own a bakery. 

In August of 2020, the Stewart’s dreams came together and became a reality. Cardinal Cakes and Coffee opened its doors to the wonderful community of Copley, Ohio. 

The Stewart’s put their heart into everything they do, and it shows. From the beautiful and amazing cakes, the phenomenal pastries, or the delicious coffee drinks and breakfast sandwiches. Cardinal Cakes and Coffee represents their love for one another, their love of the community, and the love they have for bringing joy into others lives.
